And “LG”, of course, did not miss the opportunity to talk with the director. And more long than personal ones. Personally, we met in the year, but I met his work at the very beginning of x.

As a student, I was looking for modern authors. I was wondering what replaced Soviet literature. Some mystical power brought me to the Akadkarniga store, where I was offered to acquire a small volume in the red cover with the widespread name “Spelling”. Four authors were represented there, one of them was Sergey Arno. After reading, I realized that Arno is exactly what I was looking for.

Since then I have acquired all his books. After a while, we personally met him. So Sergey Arno is my favorite writer. His work is distinguished by a peculiar, sometimes paradoxical thinking and unbridled flight of imagination. Arno is a true master of phantasmagoria, absurdity and black humor. The action of all his novels takes place in St. Petersburg - a city full of secrets and riddles.

I am as a reader and as a director drawn to his work, so I had no doubt about whose books I would like to film. In my opinion, the works of Arno are modern and relevant. Even those written almost 30 years ago, for example, the novel "Zhudsernya". In general, films according to his novels can take an empty genre niche now - a combination of mysticism and humor, absurdity and reality, a sort of cool kneading from all this.

His corporate identity is a dynamic narrative, intrigue, a kind of humor, which in some moments even overlaps, and also unbridled fantasy. Reading his books, I can never predict what will happen on the next page. His heroes are, as it were, among us, and at the same time separated by a thin layer of parallel world. This layer is at times erased, irreality crawls to reality.

The script of the film was written by Svetlana Lisyanskaya on the basis of two works of Arno: “The Day of all lovers” and “A novel about love, and also about idiots and drowned”. And there and there - the history of personal relationships. One story is sad and the other is happy. But love is everywhere. The film was called "about idiots and lovers." After all, the lovers, as Arno writes, "are happy as idiots." Did something unusual happened while working on the film according to his novels?

And the way everything turned out, how it was filmed, how miraculously the locations for the shooting were miraculously. The weather, again: it was rainy, when necessary, it was sunny when the episode demanded that. The state of the Neva sometimes seemed to feel the mood of the episode: it was calm, then it was directly fought about granite. The city became a full -fledged participant in the filming process, and we all felt its support.

Mysticism was present on the set from the first to the last frame. We all found ourselves in the unusual world of Sergey Arno. They worked quickly and with pleasure. In our film, the stars of Russian cinema, and novice actors, and even people who have nothing to do with the act were shot. For example, the philologist Valery Efremov played a funny role in the episode with crutches.

The artist Maria Semenova played a nurse. The most popular in the past, Cavaenger Svetlana Permyakova played the role of Matilda, Estetka, separation and treacherous villain. I think that in such a hypostasis she was for the first time. Honored Artist of Russia Galina Bokashevskaya created the image of the mother of the missing Marina in drama. Marina herself was played by the novice actress Evgeny Sobolev, and her husband Maxim, who was taken away by Matilda, the young actor Alexander Makovsky.

And Kristina Kashchenko mystically turned out to be the very Christina that she needed to play. Of course, the role of the writer in the film could be fulfilled by a professional actor, but in the end we decided that no one would show this image better than Sergey Arno himself.And they were right. It turned out, in my opinion, great. Arno got used to the role of the writer and felt completely liberated in front of the camera.

The film turned out, in my opinion, with a “right” mood. There are lyrical scenes, dynamics, intrigue, thriller. Its main feature is that the film delays the viewer gradually. It does not immediately have enough of him by the throat, but imperceptibly weaves him into this mystical whirlpool of events. Well, of course, I won’t disclose the details of the plot ...
