The biography is briefly Varlamov
Country Russia romances and songs by A. Varlamov - a bright page of Russian vocal music. The composer of a wonderful melodic talent, he created works of great artistic value, gaining rare popularity. Who does not know the melodies of the songs “Red Sarafan”, “along the street Metelitsa Muman” or romances “Lonely sail whips”, “Do not be a wake on the dawn”? According to the fair remark of the contemporary, his songs "with purely Russian motives became folk." The famous "Red Sarafan" was sang "with all the classes - both in the luxury of the nobleman, and in the cursed hut of a man," and was even captured in the Russian bast.
Varlamov’s music was also reflected in fiction: the composer’s romances, as a characteristic element of everyday life, were introduced into the works of many writers - N. Gogol, I. Turgenev, N. Nekrasov, N. Leskov, I. Bunin and even the English author Golsourcy “The End of the Chapter”. But the fate of the composer developed less happily than the fate of his songs.
Varlamov was born in a poor family. His musical giftedness manifested itself early: he learned to play the violin self -taught - he picked up folk songs by hearing. The boy’s beautiful, sonorous voice determined his future fate: at 9 years he was admitted to the Petersburg court singel by a young singer. In this glorified choral team, Varlamov was engaged in the direction of the director of the chapel of the outstanding Russian composer D.
soon Varlamov became a soloist of the choir, learned to play the piano, cello, guitar. In the city, a world of new diverse impressions opens in front of the young man: he often attends opera, concerts. Then, by his own admission, he "deliberately studied the theory of music." Upon returning to his homeland, Varlamov teaches at the St. Petersburg Theater School, is engaged in the singers of the Preobrazhensky and Semenovsky regiments, then he again enters the singing chapel by the chorist and teacher.
Soon in the hall of the Philharmonic Society, he gives his first concert in Russia, where he conducts symphonic and choral works and acts as a singer. A considerable role was played by meetings with M. Glinka - they contributed to the formation of the independent views of the young musician on the development of Russian art. Varlamov was invited by an assistant dropmaster of Moscow imperial theaters, then he received a place for the "composer of music." He quickly entered the circle of Moscow artistic intelligentsia, among which there were many talented people, versatile and brightly gifted: actors M.
Shchepkin, P. Mochalov; Composers A. Gurilev, A. Vertovsky; poet N. Tsyganov; Writers M. Zagoskin, N. Polevoy; Singer A. Bantyshev et al. They were brought together by a hot hobby for music, poetry, folk art. During these years, Varlamov composes “Red Sarafan”, “Oh, it hurts, let it sneak”, “What kind of heart”, “Don’t make noise, violent winds”, “What was blurred, Zorenka is clear” and other romances and songs included in the “Musical Album for a Year” and glorified the composer's name.
Working in the theater, Varlamov writes music to many dramatic productions of “Two Gun” and “Roslavlev” by A. Shakhovsky - the second according to the novel by M. Zagoskin; “Prince Serebryany” according to the novel “Clothes” by A. Bestuzhev-Marlinsky; "Esmeralda" based on the novel "Cathedral of the Parisian Mother of God" V. Hugo, "Hamlet" V. The production of the Shakespearean tragedy was an outstanding event.
Belinsky, who attended this performance 7 times, was also interested in Barlamov. Guryanov, according to the fairy tale, Sh. Perrault “Boy-Palchik”, went on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater. The composer wanted to write an opera - he was carried away by the plot of the poem by A. Mitskevich “Conrad Wallenrod”, but the plan remained unrealized. Throughout life, the performing activities of Varlamov did not stop.
He systematically performed in concerts, most often as a singer. The composer possessed a small, but beautiful Tenor in the timbre, his singing was characterized by rare musicality and sincereness. Varlamov was widely known as a vocal teacher. His “school of singing” is the first large work in Russia in this area - and now has not lost its significance. For the last 3 years, Varlamov spent in St.
Petersburg, where he hoped to go to the singing chapel again. This desire was not realized, life was difficult. The musician's wide fame did not protect him from poverty and disappointment. He died of tuberculosis at the age of 47. The main, most valuable part of Varlamov’s creative heritage are romances and songs of approx. The circle of poets is very wide: A.
Pushkin, M. Lermontov, V. Zhukovsky, A. Delvig, A. Polezhaev, A. Timofeev, N. Varlamov opens A. Koltsov, A. Pleshcheev, A. Feta, M. as A. Dargomyzhsky, he is one of the first to address Lermontov; His attention is also attracted by translations from I. Goethe, G. Heine, P. Varlamov - a lyricist, a singer of simple human feelings, his art reflected the thoughts and aspirations of contemporaries, and was consonant with the spiritual atmosphere of the era of the X.
Time’s trends affected both romantic aspirations and in the emotional openness of Varlam's lyrics. Its range is wide enough: from light, watercolor paints in the landscape romance “I like to look in the nesting of the night” to the dramatic elegy “you are not there”. Varlamov’s work is inextricably linked with the traditions of household music, with a folk song. Deeply soil, it subtly reflects its musical features - in language, in the subject, in a figurative system.
Many images of Varlamov romances, as well as a number of musical techniques associated primarily with the melody, are directed into the future, and the composer’s ability to raise household music to the level of truly professional art deserves attention today.
