There, under his wing, the young talented athlete was taken by the honored coach of Russia Felix Gelus. Together they worked up to a year. It is very pleasant to realize that he was able to achieve such results, ”added Denis Kostyunin. One of the reasons for moving, according to acquaintances, could be the desire of the whole family to further grow Andrei. After all, it was the Khabarovsk Boxing School that gave Andrei a chance to reach the international level.

Then he defended the honor of the "piece of iron." By coincidence, for the period of the competition, the coach of their national team fell ill and could not be present. Then Andrei himself took his entire team under the wing, was engaged in organizational issues, and temporarily played the role of the coach. It should be borne in mind that he himself was preparing to reach the ring.

In that year, in his weight category, Andrei took second place. In my opinion, with honor he was defeated in the final in a battle with one of the Klinkov brothers. It seemed to me and other specialists that Andrei was actually disheveled. Sport took a long time from the boxer, so he entered the Faculty of Law at the correspondence department. In the year, the athlete took his legendary bronze at the Olympic Games in London.

In the semifinals, Andrei lost to the Kazakh athlete Serik Sapiev with an account of boxers already met in the ring in the year as part of the world championship. Then Andrei won.
