Adrian Tchaikovsky biography
The most famous is the novel “Children of the Time” in the genre of cosmic science fiction and a large -scale fantasy cycle “Shadows of the Apt”. Born in Woodholl, Lincolnshire in the year in the family of Polish emigrants in the second generation, his grandfather emigrated from Poland during the Second World War. The real name is Czajkowski, but in the literature he uses the Americanized pseudonym, Tchaikovsky, which is easier for the English -speaking reader to pronounce.
For publishing houses of Great Britain and the USA, this is a regular marketing move. Under the same surname, his books are published in all English -speaking countries and Germany. Adrian Tchaikovsky expressed a desire to be published under the real name in Poland, but there his books published under the name "Adrian Tchaikovsky". But he did not immediately begin writings at once and for a very long time looking for his life path.
After school, Adrian entered the University of Reading, where he studied zoology and psychology. And then he sharply changed his activities, received a legal education and worked as a lawyer in Lids, West Yorkshire, where he still lives with his wife Annie and son Alex.
The idea of a debut novel, “Chern and Gold”, first came to him when he studied at the university and developed a table role -playing game called “Bugworld” - its basic script about the race of insectoids, which were attacked by the Empire of the OS, lay down the basis of the fictional world, in which people mix their genes with insect genes and technologies and technologies and technologies and technologies and technology face magic.
But Adrian decided to realize his ideas in paper only in the year. Despite the fact that at that time he already had “so many refusals from publishers that they could glue the wall with them” Adrian unsuccessfully tried to publish about fifteen years, he made a promise to write four novels before contacting literary agents: “I knew that if I write the first volume, I would send it to the publisher, and I would reject it, I wouldn’t have the strength of the will to continue the series.
Therefore, I decided that I had to write the first four books before sending them to someone. ” Three years later, this adventure had fruit, since his novels attracted the attention of agent Simon Cavan from the Mic Cheetham agency, which works with such authors as Ien Banks, M. John Harrison and China Meville. And in the year his first novel was published in the Tor Books publishing house, laid down the large -scale cycle of Shadows of the Apt, which includes ten main novels, and several dozen additional stories and stories.
The popularity of the cycle is at least the fact that Adrian Tchaikovsky managed to publish the anthology of stories dedicated to the world of the cycle, which noted such writers as John Gwinn and Peter Newman. But real fame came to the author of the year, after the publication of the novel “Children of Time”, which received the Arthur C. Roman, considers the concept of settlement of distant planets: the expedition of earthlings plans to send monkeys to the new world and infect them with a virus intended to accelerate the evolution and increase their intelligence, which will allow them to create a civilization for several hundred years.
However, everything goes not according to the plan, as a result of which the race of reasonable spiders appears, setting down the planet, which human colonists claim. The popularity of the novel allowed Adrian Tchaikovsky to quit his main work in the year and engage in writing exclusively books. The author is distinguished by exceptional fertility - annually he publishes at least two novels, not counting numerous stories and stories.
Adrian often participates in interjection projects. Thanks to his love for role -playing games, he wrote several works that relate to the universe “World of Warcraft”, “Warhammer 40,” and “Warhammer: Age of Sigmar”. Adrian is happy in marriage, fond of role -playing games, sometimes performs in amateur performances and even took the lessons of stage fencing. For the reasons incomprehensible even to the author himself, he is attracted by insects and spiders, which often reflects in creativity.
