The second teacher - Francois Boucher Francois Boucher was the real discovery. Funny rural girls, luxurious flowers, curly trees, chubby babies of the Rococo style captivated Jean-Oonor Fragonar.
The influence of the picturesque manner of Bushe affected so much that the first works of the student could not distinguish even sophisticated spectators from the teacher’s. But Jean-Oonore studied not only the light genre of pastoral scenes.
He was interested in antiquity, Renaissance, he enthusiastically acquainted with the work of the great Rembrandt Rembrandt Harmenszoon Van Rijn. The painting “The High Priest Korez is sacrificing itself in the name of saving Kalliroa”, thanks to the versatile talent, in the year Fragonar received the prestigious Roman prize for the historical work “Sacrifice of Jerovoam”.

The drawing “Roman Park with a fountain”, for some time Fragonar served as a guardian in the Louvre, entered the jury of various exhibitions. But his own painting became unclaimed and ceased to bring income. In the year, the forgotten master moved to his native grace, but life in the province buried him and at the beginning of the new century Jean-Oonor Fragonar returned to the capital.
Here he died, on August 22, a quiet, noble death. They say that the artist went to the familiar Parisian confectionery, where he dozed off in anticipation of the order. No one began to disturb him and the visitor was noticed only after a couple of hours. The most popular work of the painter: “Jerovoam makes a sacrifice to idols” is a well -known academic work, for which the author received the Award of the Roman competition.
