Kim Igor Vladimirovich Biography

Igor Kim: “Living among smart people is a great luxury” Igor Kim: “Living among smart people is a great luxury” has been engaged in banking for 30 years. In G. and it seems to me that the impressions that were then remain with us for life. Do you remember the day when you were here for the first time? It was the end of July. I was 15, and I, along with other guys, went to a summer school from the Khabarovsk Territory.

The road seemed endless. Half of the way - forest, forest, forest, forest ... Then they walked along the path to the university. The impressions remained very bright. I was from a provincial town, and the contrast between Akademgorodok and other cities was strong. Well -groomed, green, all the lawns were trimmed ... It was amazing - not just one well -groomed flowerbed, but the entire settlement.

Everything caused me delight. Did you go to a summer school to enter the FMS? This is a rare chance to study in the famous Akademgorodok. Most of us were from Siberia. Far East and Central Asia. We seemed to us Novosibirsk the center of the universe, and Akademgorodok - a place where you can definitely get knowledge, expand the horizons ... The mood was for admission.

And most of those who wanted to do. Was it difficult to study? When at the beginning of the academic year our seminar in physics Viktor Ivanovich Manzhalyal formulated the task, I did not even understand the condition. In mathematics, the first few classes were only two, I simply could not understand what the tasks were about. I had to enter. Probably, in a physical school I had one of the highest loads in my whole life.

The intelligence had to strain very much. We were not taught by school teachers. These were scientists, and they operated on categories that are completely incomprehensible to me then. For the first time I heard the words “differential”, “integral” did not teach us this either in a previous school or here. And our seminarist in physics believed that it was trivial.

He probably did not even suspect that we could not know this. And, to my surprise, some classmates, it turns out, knew this and could operate with these categories. Would you have to study at night? I wanted to sleep at night ... The question is not in the time of the day, but in how you concentrate. You can sit for five hours, read and do not understand anything, but you can try to figure it out, see the essence.

The most important thing is to understand the essence and principles. After that, everything is built into the system. When the method of thinking is thus polished in this way, you are already just gaining information and systematizing it. Here, of course, you need strong motivation. What helped you overcome difficulties? In my class in the old school, I was probably the best in physics.

And then he arrived and found that there are people who have a wider horizons, and in some objects they are much more prepared and intellectual. Here I was surprised to learn that there are teenagers who in my free time were engaged in mathematics who are fond of this.

Kim Igor Vladimirovich Biography

And when you begin to learn to live among smart people, among intelligence - this is a very great luxury. In such an environment, next to such people, you yourself begin to develop. If you are lagging behind, then you try to pull yourself up. And, I think, the most important thing is that the physical school gives students is the environment. She is unique, it is difficult to repeat. You can have a fashionable class, hang garlands, super -expensive walls.

But this is just a wall. You can’t replace intelligence with them. The physical school was not the most stuporous in the country, the hostel was the simplest. Wednesday is what is important. Have you had your favorite items? By the warehouse of thinking, mathematics, physics were well given to me. Some of the most striking impressions are associated with biology. It was led by a very talented teacher - Grigory Moiseevich Dymshitz.

He could in biology, as they say, fall in love, his lessons were so interesting. I loved a story, therefore the humanities were given quite well. We had an outstanding subject “Fundamentals of Arts” in secondary schools, it was naturally not taught. It was a look at the history of civilization through art. Not through the class approach, not through historical events, battles, the names of the rulers, but through culture.

For example, Crito-Miken culture, what did it consist of, what cultural layer left after itself? And the lesson was not held in the training class, but in the music living room. In the classroom, we listened to music. There we met, for example, with the rock opera "Juno and Avos." We did not lay out this plot according to the textbook, as in literature. The context was set in terms of art.

And I believe that such lessons made a very great contribution to the development of our horizons, to the development of personality. Yes, through natural-scientific subjects, we studied the world around us. And here was the knowledge of human society. And it was great. Akademgorodok from the time of the USSR, in general, is called such an island of Freedom. He was at the beginning of X was the territory of free thought.

There were many rather sharp questions. We asked him: “Do you believe in God? And he explained to us his views. For us, children who grew up in the USSR, at that moment it sounded revolutionary: how at the same time absolute materialism is combined with faith in God.Did this affect the formation of you as personalities? What is a classic university education? This is the upbringing of a critical view of the world: the ability to not only reflect, but approach what you see, with a systemic look.

It was raised in us. A critical look - not to take everything on faith. Science is based not on faith, but on the axioms on the basis of which a system of evidence is built. But this I already say banal things. How did the last generations of Soviet Fymyshat rest? You know, my physical school is not associated with rest, but rather with communication. When teenagers get together, they, of course, will find a occupation for themselves.

Each of us had a circle of communication on the basis of our favorite lesson. Someone went in for sports, someone went to the music club. We constantly played football, we had two stadiums. On Thursdays there was a science day - they went to institutes. Time was busy. I definitely did not have to suffer from idleness. Active social life within a physical school allowed to establish communication, allowed socialized.

I think this is very important, because it is no secret that people with a high level of intelligence sometimes face problems in communication. Yes, you can be the smartest, but what's the point if no one knows about it except you. How did you see your future? I could not say that someone knew exactly who he would be.
