Rehan Biography
The photographer managed to capture people whose lives were closely related to the traditions transmitted from generation to generation. During this period, he visited more than 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam, studying their cultural and craft features. The result of this study is the discovery of the Precious Heritage Museum in Hoyan, where not only portraits of people from different ethnic groups are collected, but also objects of their cultural heritage.
Suddenly, he had the opportunity to rethink his approach to creativity. When traveling became impossible, he began to study the cultural heritage of his homeland - France. Inspired by this discovery, he began to create a new series of photographs that combines painting and photographs. He experiments with compositions, light and color to convey an atmosphere close to the one that can be seen on the canvases of great artists.
His work serves as a reminder that even in the most difficult times, art can become a bridge between cultures and eras. This approach requires speed and intuition, since light and colors are constantly changing. Artists, such as Monet and Cezann, allowed themselves to work with a brush more freely, avoiding excessive detail and focusing on emotional perception. How could Rehan can convey this style with a camera?
He began to experiment with different techniques that used natural effects to create a visual impression, similar painting. For example, one of his favorite techniques consists in shooting through reflections, which are grown due to the movement of water, giving images a dreamy and soft look. This phenomenon occurs when cool air occurs with severe heat, creating a wavy effect.
Farmers in Hoyan often burn their fields to rejuvenate the ground, which allows Rehan to use distortion from heat for their photos. This technique gives the image a quality resembling layers of paint applied by a spatula. In addition, rekhan experimented on salt plateau in Kan Gio, Vietnam. He photographed employees of salt fishing, using their reflection on flooded fields.
In this case, a layer of salt on the surface of the water creates an effect resembling clouds in the sky. Some principles, such as dense pruning, asymmetry and vertical composition, brought fresh ideas to European art and influenced such movements as expressionism. Rehan often departs from the rules of the third, preferring more free compositions, which makes his work unique.
In addition to visual arts, Rehan also draws inspiration from nature. He feels comfortable in the open air, and this is reflected in his photographs. His works, inspired by nature and the artistic traditions of the past, create a bridge between modern and history of art, showing that art can develop, remaining in harmony with heritage.
He can shoot the same scene many times, experimenting with various corners and lighting to find the perfect frame. This approach resembles the work of impressionists who sought to capture the light in its various manifestations. He added that for him it was especially significant, since onfler is the place where Monet first began to write in the open air. However, Rehan does not just want to repeat the already famous, his goal is to create something unique, being at the junction of painting and photographs.
He emphasizes that he wants to inspire people to a deeper interaction with nature, through the game of light, color and shape. He experiments with various textures and layers in order to achieve a dreamy and somewhat illusory effect. This, in his opinion, allows the viewer to stop, slow down and carefully look at the details. It is important for Rehan to convey not only visual beauty, but also cause an emotional response using natural light and paint.
Thus, Rehan creates his unique artistic aesthetics, which, although inspired by classic impressionists, strives for something more, combining photography and painting in a new, dreamy manner.
